The Bothie

A sweet wine at Torbreck was always going to be something slightly different and we've been tinkering away at it since 2001.

Muscat Blanc a Petit Grains is harvested in several stages to achieve different levels of ripeness, creating a myriad of potential flavours.

A small amount of spirit is then added to the fermenting wine to arrest the yeast activity and raise the alcohol level to around 14%.

Torbreck is the name of a forest near Inverness, Scotland. You’ll find more than a passing nod to the Celts in our wine naming conventions including this reference to the place to stop on a highland trail for a rest – a Bothie.

Current Vintage 2013
The 2013 vintage in the Barossa Valley will be remembered as the driest, earliest and quickest vintage in memory. Low rainfall in the pre-season was followed by dry conditions in December-January and a week-long heatwave in February.
