Les Amis

Sourced from the devigorated soils of western Greenock, Les Amis is a testament to what only the most fastidious farming can achieve - purity, intensity and finesse.

A multi layered perfume of violets, kirsch and concentrated red berry aromas with a succulent, dense and vibrant fruit intensity. The concentration, poise and elegance is perfectly balanced and typical of this unique terroir.

Revealing a savoury elegance in its youth, the Les Amis will continue to build in complexity for many years to come.

An above average winter rainfall led into a below average spring and summer rainfall, producing small bunches and small berries, leading to a reduced yield. Quality was certainly high, particular amongst our red varieties of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro. 2018 wines will be remembered for their impressive colour, structure and longevity.

 Les Amis Grenache 2018

Alluring and seductive aromatic red fruits such as sour cherry mulberry, red currant and wild raspberry. Secondary notes of Chinese five spice, sarsaparilla, star anise are balanced by wet earth and cinnamon spice. Cleansing acidity drives the finish fresh with plenty of mid palate texture. Old vine Grenache complexities and full-bodied depth with firm but balanced drying tannins give the wine plenty of time to mature in the cellar for 8-15 years

Showing enormous intensity and length, the 2018 Les Amis Grenache is a tremendous success. Yes, the oak slightly overshadows the fruit on the nose, where cedary notes ride easily over ripe cherries, but it recedes into the background in the mouth, allowing waves of black cherries, red raspberries and exotic spice notes to come forward and expand on the full-bodied palate. Plush and creamy-textured, it's nevertheless refined and elegant on the finish, which turns silky and spicy, with lingering notes of red berries, licorice and cola. 97 Points

Fresh and lively, cranberry and cherry flavors are tangy and crisp, with notes of white pepper. More expressive details of white pepper, lavender, nutmeg and matcha emerge on the finish, with the tannins firming up at the end. Grenache. Drink now through 2035. 93 points
