Cellar Selections: The Top Age-Worthy Wines for 2024- #89
Rich, evocative aromas of mulberry, blueberry, coffee bean and hot-cocoa mix lend approachability to what is otherwise a rich, dense wine, packed with flavor, but also with powerful, chalk dust tannins that need serious protein if opening now. Patience will be rewarded, however. Give this a few more years in bottle

The Steading 2022
Oodles of ripe, plush dark berry and plum fruit rush from the glass, the more savory, toasty oak-driven aromas tucked beneath the surface. It's a rich, mouth-filling wine with a touch of alcohol heat. There's plenty of polish and power, but also heaps of upfront fruity appeal.

The Struie 2022
A velvety, supple shiraz from both Barossa and Eden Valleys that oozes plum and blackberry jam appeal, with a lick of baking spice behind. It's as luxurious in texture as it is in aroma and flavor, the ripe tannins seamlessly tucked behind all the plush fruit, and a little alcohol heat creeping in and landing on the finish. The comparatively cool 2022 vintage makes for highly age-worthy wines and Struie is no exception

Woodcutter's Semillon 2023
Give this some aeration in glass or decanter for the reductive oniony notes to blow off and be replaced by lemon-lime, white grapefruit, green veg, dried herbs and lanolin aromas. There's plenty of citrusy freshness on the palate with a slightly waxy texture and a lovely lift of acidity. Drink with spring and summer fare.

Woodcutter's Shiraz 2022
There's oodles of black currant and blackberry fruit here to start. It's spice flecked with a touch of chocolatey oak and a warm earthy, mineral core. The palate is equally lifted and sculpted, with beautiful line of acidity and taut, herb and spiced tannins
