Torbreck Vintners is pleased to announce the opening of Hillside Vineyard, a beautifully restored historic estate on the outskirts of Lyndoch, nestled within Barossa’s rich winemaking landscape. Hillside offers Torbreck’s Wine Club members and invited guests and opportunity to enjoy the estate’s exceptional wines in a tranquil and private environment.
The estate will also be open to the public at limited times throughout the year where guests can explore the property through a series of wine experiences such as vineyard tastings, and masterclasses showcasing Torbreck’s acclaimed wines, including The Laird and The Forebear.
Originally acquired by Torbreck in 2002, the historic property dates back to 1849, with its vineyards established in the 1850s. This vineyard is home to some of the world’s oldest Shiraz vines, recognized as ‘Ancestor Vines’ under the Barossa Old Vine Charter.
Torbreck has carefully restored both the vineyard and heritage listed winery buildings to preserve this significant piece of Barossa history – 1860’s winery buildings converted to private event and wine tasting spaces, and the Homestead into two luxury accommodation suites.
“Hillside is a reflection of our dedication to preserving the legacy of Barossa’s oldest vines while providing an enriching experience for our members,” said Torbreck Chief Winemaker, Ian Hongell. “It’s about more than just enjoying great wine; it’s about connecting with the history behind each bottle.”
The opening of Hillside Vineyard signifies a new chapter in Torbreck’s commitment to crafting wines that embody the rich history and terroir of the Barossa Valley. The estate is set to become a welcoming destination for wine enthusiasts looking to deepen their appreciation for the art of winemaking.
